This week I released TWO episodes on The BE Series Podcast and one was #81 BE Positive with Terri and Steve Cowan! Terri said this powerful statement, "when your team understands the whys it makes them wise."
As we start opening our businesses again, we need to remember how important it is for our teams to buy into our visions. As a leader, you are gifted with seeing more than your teams see. You see the vision for re-opening before your team does, and you probably actually like change.
But you have to remember that (most likely) your team only sees the way things were. They are probably longing for the 'good ole days' and may resist change, because they feel like you are trying to change them and what is comfortable for them.
I'm a Certified DISC (personality) Trainer, so I am very in tune with my teams' personality strengths and weaknesses. Here's the truth: most personality styles resist change, so be careful about making decisions without allowing them to give input and share their feelings.
As a leader, it's important for you to figure out how to communicate your vision. You need to learn how to inspire, persuade, and thoroughly educate your teams on any changes your team needs to make in order to help your business follow all sanitation guidelines and create efficiency.
So here is my challenge to you: this week, restructure your communication with your team to allow each team member to voice their concerns and their ideas as you develop a new business plan for your companies.
I would love to hear any and all ideas you come up with!
